My Bicycle Project
It’s finally nice enough out to start working on my bike. I was going back an forth between subaru blue with gold wheels or olive drab green army style, but then I found a brown leather seat and whitewall tires at walmart and then I was sold on the military look.
I never realized how complicated this bike was untill I took it apart. Hopefully I can put it back together. I’m going to convert it to a one speed and get some street tires. I had to pull all the stupid stickers off and sand everything down (the hard part). Still busy sanding, although I did get to primer the main frame which was good motivation. Here’s the progress so far…
Blogging from my iPhone
Finally figured out my password issue trying to log onto wordpress. Anyway, the wordpress app is awesome. It’s definately not fully featured, but great for on the go. If you use worspress and have an iPhone I definately suggest you check it out. That is all.
What I’m playing on my iPhone
I’ve been pretty addicted to a couple of multiplayer iPhone games recently, mainly Mafia Wars, which in part revolves around adding members to your gang. It’s a great passive game, so check it out, and add me, my ID is 8304192006. For the record, I also love Race Wars, iMafia and Ninjas, but I don’t need to whore myself out online to get “crew”. If you play, add me and add your ID below and I’ll add it too, but note, I don’t play any of the facebook ones.
Updated Contact Info
Nothing major. I just updated my contact info here. I should be back soon, been too busy.
Food porn
So I finally went out and bought some bacon (Save a lot FTW) and decided to make something for dinner. Started cooking the bacon, then I decided I wanted a bacon burger, that’s right, Bacon first, then I figure out what I’m cooking… Anyway, Just wanted to brag…

I think I'll have to use this as my new twitter av

Ugh, Spam!
So I got my first taste of the “best” part of running the ning site. Unintended promotion via a spam bot! They joined about a week ago, and I thought there was something weird about it. I noticed like 5 other people join afterwards that didn’t belong. I was looking at the members and noticed that the original “person” had proceeded to invite over 1000 people to our site! They didn’t even have a website, what were they planing on doing? So the people that joined afterward were randomly invited, AND JOINED! Well, hopefully that’s over for now…
Oh so busy!
So, I try to stay away from the personal stuff on my blog, that’s what my twitter and facebook is for. I did want to say for the record that I have been so busy these past couple weeks! Work decided to cut 1 person too many, and when you leave only 4 full time and 2 part time employees to run the store, and then approve vacations this month. This leaves us to work our butts off! I clocked 101 hours in the last 2 weeks! I am an hourly employee, so I’ll take the extra hours and overtime. Anyway, that’s my excuse, and hence the lack of blog posts, quality tweets, appearances at tweetups and the sorrying state of the stl twitter ning site. Anyway, Don’t expect a ton out of me for a little bit longer, not that I really have any regular readers anyway…
NoSleepHD protects my sanity
NoSleepHD is an windows utility that stops your external hard drive from going to sleep. Windows by default will put to sleep external devices to save energy and such. The problem I have is when my external decides to wind up, which can be at any given time, gives me some terrible audio feedback on my speakers. So, until I get that problem fixed (Most likely convert to all digital audio) this will do. Also people who need the performance perks of having a external that is ready to go will also find use in this program. It’s pretty straightforward, free and you can download it here.
Cardinal!
We were visited by a cardinal last night. Don’t know why he’d pick such a shitty apartment to crash at… I took a video, but it came out much too dark.

IMHO: Bold vs. iPhone
Let me start by saying a couple things. First, this is by no means an in depth review of either, and all information is ‘as is’ and is subject to truthfulness and change and in no way is a representation of either AT&T, Apple or Blackberry. Second, I know this is about 4 months too late, but I’ve now had enough time with both to find all the quirks. Lastly, I love both of these phones. They are hands down 2 of the best phones you can buy via carriers today. Do not mistake my criticisms for fanboyism for either product.
1st up, the crowd favorite, the iPhone:
Pros:
- App store: If there is one thing that I miss the most about the iPhone, it’s the app store.
- Touch screen: Now, I haven’t had a lot of face time with the big competitor on this one, The Storm, but it is hands down better than any other touch screen phone I’ve handled.
- Texting: Full keyboard, auto correct, threaded text that is so simple and easy I can do it one handed. drunk. in a windstorm. with a chimpanzee on my back beating my skull in. You get the point.
- Accessorize: There are more cases available for the iPhone than you can shake a stick at, plus many more cool accessories.
- Email: It looks pretty, full html email support is awesome, especially if you actually want to read those emails newegg.com sends you.
Cons:
- Everything already stated by everyone criticizing the iPhone: mms, copy/paste, background tasks, video, etc…
- Email support sucks: It does. It’s pretty (above), but between the pain in the ass setup process and limited support. Have you tried to set up a charter.net email on an iPhone? Don’t bother.
- No insurance: I couldn’t trust myself with that thing.
- No Turn by turn GPS: Or traffic rerouting for that matter. I think there is big money to be made here.
The Underdog (Blackberry Bold)
Pros:
- PUSH. EMAIL. SUPPORT.: For everyone, any email service. end of story.
- Solid keyboard: I’m pretty picky about my keyboards now, the Bold is definitely hands down the best physical keyboard. When you pick it up and start slamming out some text, you’ll notice the difference.
- Less app restrictions: Less restrictive API and no manufacturing blessing necessary. Opera mini and Youmail are my two favorite apps, which will never be available on the iPhone if things stay the way they are.
Cons:
- Coolness: Definitely less cool than the iPhone. Yes I am that vain and self centered.
- Leather Back: While it looks classy, mine is already all torn up.
Either way, you’re getting an awesome phone, and do recommend both, you just need to decide what is important to you. What phones do you guys recommend?
